Assignments

1. The objective of this assignment was to design icons in Illustrator that clearly communicate a message.  From this assignment I learned that icons are meant to portray a message easily and clearly by using simple shapes and lines.  I chose to ice cream, soccer, and coffee because they all involved simple design that would  be easily recognized. I had to think about who would be viewing my objects and since there wasn't a certain audience I used designs that any age group would understand.

2. The objective of this assignment was to create texture by using the pen tool. The first row was animal prints. The second uses negative and positive space and the last uses value.

3. The objective of this assignment was to create a color wheel using primary secondary, and tertiary colors. I chose to do pumpkins and candy corns because of the time of year we were doing the project.

4. The objective of this assignment was to imitate Andy Hall's pop art work. I used a different color scheme in each square. The first shows analogous. The second shows The third shows a monochromatic color scheme. The fourth shows a triad color scheme.

5.  The objective of this assignment was to create a photo mosaic by using multiple pictures of a relate subject then combining them to make a picture. Finally we edited the picture to make the pictures blend together and appear as if they are an actual picture.
6. The objective of this assignment was to imitate the work of Stephen Kroninger by using real objects and cutting and shaping them so that they form real life objects.

7. The objective of this assignment was to use a layer mask to blend ourselves into a picture of  a band or celebrity.

8.  The objective of assignment 8 was to create a picture using only words and letters. For the areas with darker shades, I piled more letters or top of each other to create value. I distorted other letters to create rain and other various items throughout the scene.

9. The object of assignment 9 was to create a type using a given type classification and principle.

11. The objective of assignment 11 was to create a photo using lyrics, a photo, a paper texture and layer blends. I chose a picture of the beach that I had taken in St. Thomas and the song "Knee Deep" by Zac Brown Band. I put the paper texture in the background then added the lyrics. I put the picture on top of them, then blended the layers with the linear mode.

12. The objective of this assignment was to design a poster using the different letters of the alphabet. Originally we had to go around and find items that resembled the shape of each of the letters. It was difficult at first but then we began to see everything as a letter. We had to configure the shapes into an 8x8 piece of paper

13. The objective of assignment 13 was to create an exquisite corpse by making our own individual section of the body. We were put in groups of the 3 and each designed our own 8.5 x 3 section of the body. When we were done we all put them together to see what creature we had created.

14. The objective of assignment 14 was to design a poster. We were all assigned either a career in photography and graphic design, or an organization. I was assigned PPA so I created a poster using a photo I had taken. We had to incorporate the Logo, what organization name, the website, and a brief summary of what the organization did. All of this had to fit in the Z pattern format so that the audience's eyes flowed through the page in an easy yet efficient way.
15. The objective of assignment 15 was to create an illuminated manuscript like the ones they used in the olden days. We were only given the stamp tool, everything else had to be created on our own. I chose to do the balcony see from Romeo and Juliet so I used vines and characters to represent that.

16. The objective of assignment 16 was to create an infographic timeline using the history of communication information from the podcasts. I created my background using adobe illustrator and then wrote each event in indesign. The events are in chronological order from left to right.
